Nico was our first Siberian and the dog who started us on our path in purebred dogs. Living with her reshaped our lives and set us in a direction we never could have predicted. Through Nico, we were introduced to the Siberian Husky breed, dryland mushing, and the idea that life with dogs could be fuller, richer, and far more involved.

Nico has always been a true go-anywhere, do-anything dog. She is smart, confident, adaptable, and ready for whatever comes next, whether that’s traveling someplace new or trying a new class. At the same time, she taught us some of the most important lessons about the breed, most importantly that Siberians are, without question, an on-leash breed.

Nico tested us, pushed us, and ultimately taught us how to communicate with dogs rather than simply train them. She showed us the importance of clarity, consistency, and mutual respect, shaping not only how we work with our dogs, but how we live alongside them in harmony. Nico laid the foundation for everything that followed, and without her, Bricoya Siberians would not exist.
