Fall Dryland is Here

The temperatures are finally starting to drop here in western Michigan, which means one of our favorite times of year is here, dryland season!

After a lazy summer and a lighter-than-usual end to last season, we’ve been looking forward to getting the girls back into a regular running routine. With cooler mornings settling in, we’ve started getting out regularly for morning ATV runs and recently made it out to one of our favorite local state trails for our first scooter run of the season.

So far, the girls are looking great. They’re happy to be back in harness, excited to run, and starting the season off strong. For now, we’re focusing on building everyone back up, enjoying the cooler weather, and putting in miles together.

We’re keeping our race schedule pretty light this year and staying close to home. Right now, we’re planning to make it to MUSH’s Fort Custer and are looking forward to GLSDA’s new dryland race.

Those couple of race weekends may also bring a fun achievement for Freya and Runa. If the weather cooperates and the races are able to run their full planned mileage, the girls should earn the remaining race miles they need toward the Siberian Husky Club of America’s Dryland Working Certificate.

It gives us a little something extra to work toward this fall, but mostly we’re just happy to have cool mornings, dirt trails, and running dogs back on the schedule. Here’s to another dryland season!
