Kennel names in the Siberian Husky world often reflect the dogs who formed the foundation of a breeding program. By naming a kennel after these early companions, breeders honor the roots of their journey and preserve the memory of those dogs for generations to come.

When it came time to choose a name for our kennel, we wanted to follow in that tradition. Bricoya (pronounced Bree-coy-a, much like “Ricola”) reflects the dogs who have had the biggest impact on our path so far:
🐾 “Bri” for Brink – Although she wasn't a Siberian, she rekindled my love of dogs and shaped our vision of the ideal house companion.
🐾 “Ico” for Nico – Our first Siberian, who introduced us to bikejoring and challenged me as a new siberian owner and trainer.
🐾 “Ya” for Freya – Our first show prospect and AKC champion, whose natural drive in harness has become the foundation of our future kennel and sled team.
And if you’re wondering where Runa fits in—the idea for our name came before she joined us. As it turns out, the “a” at the end of Bricoya now does double duty, representing both Freya and Runa.
Together, these dogs are the heart of Bricoya Siberians, and we’re proud to carry their names into everything we do in the future.
